About

http://www.theses.fr/s52891

I'm particularly interested in narratives with elements of the uncanny to try and see what they imply for the readers of the time, and to what extent they're a response to cultural, scientific and political change in that period.
The notions of uncanny and antiquarianism are central to my doctoral work, and I study them in the fiction of MR James, Wilkie Collins, John Meade Falkner, Conan Doyle, Thomas Hardy, George Eliot, Charlotte Brontë ...
I'm also very interested in the detective genre, that often has elements of "das Unheimliche".

I passed the "agrégation" in English in 2009. This allows me to teach both in secondary education and at university. In the former I teach English as a foreign language, and in the latter: English literature (BA, Masters) and English phonology (BA).
